The New York Giants' defensive end Osi Umenyora said during a recent interview with Ebenezer Samuel of the NY Daily News that he does not see himself as a backup:

"'I don't like being a backup, I can tell you that,' he said. 'It worked for us last year, but I was coming of an injury or whatever. But I see myself as a starter in the NFL. I see myself as a Pro Bowl type player. That's the way I see myself.'"

Umenyiora seems pretty determined to get his starting job back but it's also hard to change the rotation that helped the Giants win the Super bowl last season. Jason Pierre Paul was arguably the best defensive player on the Giants and Justin Tuck also had a very solid year. Injuries can lead to setbacks in sports. I feel like the only way Umenyiora will start again is if he goes to another team, or either one of the players in front of him gets injured.
