Nicolas Batum spoke on why he punched Spanish player Carlos Navarro at the end of the quarterfinals against Spain, before France lost in the quarterfinals of the Olympics:

This game sort of turned into a boxing match towards the end, but the French did most of the hitting. Now that Nicolas "Batman" Batum signed his huge contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, it's time to give himself a new image. The image of the player that absolutely hates losing, and that is ready to go out and hurt players to make a point.

I don't have any problem with a player going all out to win a game, but punch a player like that is kind of cowardly. I really doubt this would have happened if Navarro was not a bitch Batum's size. Batum is still my guy though, but until he shows this type of toughness against Metta World Peace, I won't take his new "Bad Boy" persona very serious.
