The former New York Giant wide-receiver and 2012 Super Bowl champion Mario Manningham signed a 2-year deal with the San francisco 49ers ESPN reports:

"Free agent wide receiver Mario Manningham has reached an agreement on a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.

Drew Rosenhaus confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday night his client had reached a deal with the NFC West champions.

Manningham was expected to depart the New York Giants in free agency after an impressive postseason and fourth quarter performance in the Super Bowl and he will be joining the team he helped beat in the NFC Championship.

Manningham will join an upgraded receiving corps that also includes Randy Moss, who signed a one-year contract Monday, and Michael Crabtree, the team's 10th overall pick in the 2009 draft out of Texas Tech who had 72 receptions for 874 yards and four touchdowns in 2011. San Francisco also remains in the running for free agent quarterback Peyton Manning."

Manningham was the hero of the Super Bowl XLVI after his clutch catch on a pass from Eli Manning but had expressed being opened to any team interested in him after the season was over. He had probably figured that the Giants would have their top receiver Victor Cruz as their priority, Manning was only the third option after Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.

The San Francisco 49ers have already considerably upgraded their roster from last season by adding two quality receivers in Manning and Randy Moss, they are hoping now to get their hands on Peyton Manning. The team said to top Manning's list so far is the Denver Broncos, the negociations between the two are advanced and the Broncos have reportedly offered him a 5-year deal worth $90 million
